Senior Healthcare Technical Officer (SHTO)



Job Summary




Your essential role in the supporting, testing, storing and distribution of blood and blood products will directly contribute to the saving and improving of patients' lives.


We will provide you with an extensive induction and training programme and ongoing development to support you in your role and achieving your career ambitions.


As part of the process you will have the opportunity to attend our Blood Centre, so that you can gain an understanding of the requirements of this essential role

Main duties of the job



You will be required to perform a range of scientific and technical activities to support thecryopreservation of Stem Cells and manufacture of investigational medicinal products You will be required to clean maintain and perform environmental monitoring of the cleanroom suite to a high specification. This will require wearing cover-all garments while inside the clean rooms. You will be required to maintain stocks and reagents in-line with MHRA regulations The role will require you to work standard hours and days.Occasionally there may be a requirement to worksome evenings, weekends and bank holidays depending on the project schedule, but with appropriate notice You will be required to manually handle equipment on a daily basis weighing up to 13 kgs, with or without mechanical aids, with appropriate training You will be responsible for the support and training of new and less experienced staff

About You



Qualifications



BTEC or HNC (Level 4) in a science subject, or similar qualifications relevant to the area of the organisation the postholder will be working in.

OR

Equivalent knowledge & expereince of a wide range of blood processing, testing and/or issuing procedures and techniques demanding intermediate level theoretical knowledge aquired hrough formal training.

OR

NHSBT Foundation degree. Level 4 qualification e.g. BTEC or HNC in a relevant science subject, NHSBT Foundation Degree OR equivalent knowledge and experience of working in a manufacturing, logistics or supply chain environment requiring intermediate level theoretical knowledge acquired through formal training. Evidence of furthering personal development.

Experience



Experience of supervising others Experience of working with Information Technology such as Microsoft Office.
