Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic herdsperson with a proven basic track record looking to progress in the industry and lead a team covering the day-to-day routine herd care on a progressive farm near the picturesque village of Litcham.
This exciting business is running with an emphasis on forage/grazing on two units each running with 360 Crossbred cows block calving in the autumn period on each site next autumn with all the cows and heifers calving on this the home farm unit.
Going forward the role will provide an excellent mix of responsibilities on the original unit which will include the daily herd management, milking, fertility, grassland management and associated stock work.
The herd is managed on a forage-based system with the housed period on sand cubicles with semi TMR feeding; the yields are in excess of 8,500 litres a cow. Milking is through a superb 24:48 parlour, DTL with ACR's, complete with autoshedding, Cow Manager health and fertility system and excellent handling facilities; the unit also has the new calf rearing facilities.
