The Role

The HR Associate will act as a trusted HR partner to leadership and managers, taking ownership of core HR activities and advising on complex people matters. This role requires sound judgement, discretion, and a strong understanding of employment law and best practice. Ideal for someone seeking consultancy-style work or reduced hours

Key Responsibilities

Act as the first point of contact for senior HR advice, providing guidance to managers on complex employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary, grievance, and capability cases Review, develop, and implement HR policies and procedures in line with current UK employment legislation and organisational needs Advise leadership on people strategy, organisational structure, and workforce risks Manage absence trends, wellbeing initiatives, and casework, providing data-driven insights and recommendations Ensure accurate maintenance of HR records and compliance with GDPR and employment law requirements Oversee HR aspects of payroll, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, and salary reviews Support learning and development initiatives, including training needs analysis and compliance training Lead or contribute to HR projects and change initiatives as required

Person Specification

Essential:

Proven experience in a senior HR generalist role (HR Associate / Advisor / Officer) Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and best practice Confidence in managing complex and sensitive HR cases independently Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills High level of discretion and professionalism

Desirable:

CIPD Level 5 or above (or equivalent experience) Experience working in a small organisation or standalone HR role Experience supporting leadership teams and strategic decision-making Opportunity to shape HR practices at The Lime Trees
