Role Description



Due to our increasing work throughout the UK, this is a full-time role for an experienced Hydrogeologist, Groundwater Engineer or Civil Engineer to work from our office in Durham. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project delivery from initial proposals through to completion, ensuring technical excellence, client satisfaction and regulatory compliance. You will act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, building strong relationships and ensuring clear communication throughout the project life cycle.

Key responsibilities



Liaise with and support clients regarding complex water management problems. Review site investigation data to develop hydrogeological conceptual models. Prepare water related licence and permit applications, liaising with regulators (eg. EA and SEPA). Write detailed reports such as Temporary Works Water Management Strategy Reports and Hydrogeological Impact Appraisals. Design and analyse Pumping Tests. Conduct Groundwater and Surface Water Modelling, using in-house and commercial software. Design Temporary Works Groundwater Control Systems and Temporary Surface Water Management Systems. Undertake Water Features Surveys and Field Pumping Tests. Work within a wider technical team to deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines.

Requirements



A Postgraduate Degree in Hydrogeology or Civil Engineering is preferred. Candidates with a postgraduate degree in Engineering Geology, or a minimum 2:1 Honours Degree in Geology or Civil Engineering would also be considered if they have relevant experience. A minimum 3 years of experience (5 years preferred) working in the UK construction industry. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and act as the main client contact. Understanding of Environmental Legislation relating to Water Management. Experience of working in the field or on a construction site, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines. Ability to drive to site and occasionally work away from home during the working week. Ability to work in a team, building productive relationships with colleagues and clients.
