The Senior ICT Technician will be responsible for the effective management, maintenance, and development of all ICT systems across the school. Working closely with the Operations Manager, the post-holder will ensure that the school's ICT provision is robust, secure, and fit for purpose, supporting the needs of both staff and students.

They will provide second-line technical support to resolve issues escalated by the IT Technician and manage the relationship with the school's external IT support provider, ensuring that the service level agreement (SLA) is effectively delivered.

The Senior ICT Technician will take a proactive role in developing the school's use of technology, including its ongoing migration to cloud-based services, ensuring that systems operate efficiently and securely.

Main Responsibilities



Leadership and Management



Line manage the IT Technician, providing clear direction, support, and professional development opportunities.

Work in partnership with the Operations Manager to oversee the school's SLA with the external IT support company, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of escalated issues.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all ICT equipment, software licences, warranties, and maintenance contracts.

Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's ICT strategy in line with the wider School Development Plan.

Technical and Operational Support



Provide second-line support for all ICT issues, escalating more complex matters to the external IT provider where appropriate.

Answer/manage and prioritise issues using the school helpdesk.

Manage and maintain the school's network infrastructure, including servers, switches, wireless systems, and cabling.

Administer user accounts and access permissions across Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Google Workspace for Education.

Ensure system backups are completed regularly and that data recovery processes are tested and reliable.

Monitor and maintain cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, antivirus systems, and patch management.

Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all ICT hardware, software, and peripherals across the school.

Systems and Cloud Management



Support the school's migration of services to cloud-based platforms, ensuring seamless integration and user access.

Administer and support Microsoft 365 services (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online) and Google Classroom.

Ensure the effective running and integration of the school's Management Information System (MIS) with other platforms.

Keep abreast of developments in educational technology and make recommendations for improvement and innovation.

Data Protection and Security



Work in accordance with the school's Data Protection Policy and current data protection legislation.

Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Data Protection Officer to maintain strong data security and information management standards.

Ensure that all systems are compliant with safeguarding and data protection requirements.

Strategic and Developmental Contribution



Contribute to the planning and implementation of ICT-related projects and upgrades across the school.

Advise the Operations Manager and senior leaders on emerging technologies, best practice, and areas for future development.

Ensure ICT provision supports the school's commitment to delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and administrative systems.

Curriculum support



Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure effective use of technology across the curriculum, supporting innovative and engaging teaching and learning practices.

Provide technical advice and practical assistance to departments in the selection, implementation, and use of subject-specific software and systems.

Support staff in the use of classroom technologies, including interactive displays, audio-visual systems, and digital learning platforms.

Assist curriculum leaders in evaluating and adopting new technologies that enhance learning outcomes or improve departmental efficiency.

Provide specialist technical support to areas such as Music, Drama, and other subjects using specialised ICT or audio-visual equipment (e.g. recording, lighting, and production systems).

Work with staff and students to promote safe, responsible, and effective use of digital tools and resources.

Contribute to staff training and CPD sessions to improve digital confidence and capability across the school.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 26,824.00-28,142.00 per year
