Job Description

EPUKI are recruiting for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer based at our EPUKI Leeds office.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining robust IT infrastructure solutions across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. This role bridges traditional infrastructure management with modern cloud technologies, ensuring seamless integration between legacy systems and cloud-native solutions. The position requires managing complex environments while maintaining high availability, security, and performance standards across all infrastructure components.

The role encompasses both strategic infrastructure planning and hands-on technical delivery, requiring collaboration with diverse stakeholders to align infrastructure capabilities with business objectives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the organisation's IT modernisation initiative, facilitating the transition from a traditional environment to a hybrid model. This includes managing cost, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimising processes.

This is a hybrid-working role, with the expectation to be present at the office for a minimum of two days per week.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain hybrid infrastructure solutions, integrating on-premises VMware environments with cloud services, while ensuring alignment with business goals and security standards. Administer VMware and Windows Server environments, managing virtualisation, lifecycle, capacity planning, and supporting legacy server platforms. Implement and manage Azure cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, security, and hybrid connectivity (e.g., VPN, Azure Arc). Utilise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, and Azure DevOps for consistent and automated deployments. Ensure operational excellence through proactive monitoring, patching, performance optimisation, and capacity planning across hybrid environments. Automate infrastructure tasks and system processes using scripting languages like PowerShell and Python to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. Lead and support infrastructure-related projects, collaborating with stakeholders, managing timelines, and providing technical expertise and mentorship. Respond to and resolve incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures to ensure system stability and resilience. Join the emergency out-of-hours team to cover high-priority incidents on a rotating one-in-seven basis.
