The Purpose





Manchester United is seeking a talented and driven individual to join our Commercial Division within the Commercial Operations department. The Senior Commercial Insights Analyst will report Commercial Effectiveness Manager.


The Senior Commercial Insights Analyst will take an innovation-led approach to uncovering key insights that drive growth across the Club's commercial ecosystem and deliver industry-leading marketing effectiveness.



In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders across the club to identify challenges and opportunities. A key part of the role involves working closely with the Sales & Partnerships team, supporting partner activation, campaign planning, and retention through data-driven insights.



The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in data analysis and insight generation, with deep expertise in geo-demographic, behavioural, and transactional data. You should be skilled at identifying meaningful trends and delivering compelling narratives that inform commercial and strategic decisions. Proficiency in managing multiple projects, using a range of data sources and tools, and presenting complex findings in a clear and engaging way is essential. We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for data, strong attention to detail, and the ambition to become a reliable, go-to expert for fan and business insights across the club.



The Role

Lead the analysis of complex datasets to deliver strategic insights and clear, actionable recommendations that inform commercial decision-making. Manage and develop a suite of dashboards and reporting tools that deliver timely, accurate and relevant business and consumer intelligence. Create engaging, easy-to-understand visualizations and presentations that bring data stories to life for non-technical stakeholders. Extract, clean, and transform data from a range of sources, including internal data warehouses and third-party tools. Work closely with brand and marketing teams to deliver fan segmentation strategies, brand tracking studies, campaign analysis and other key initiatives. Promote the use of data-driven thinking across the organization, championing best practices and raising data literacy. Monitor and report on industry trends, fan behaviour, and business performance to support longer-term planning and innovation.

The Person

Previous experience in a data and insights-focused role, ideally within the sports industry or a large-scale direct-to-consumer organisations. Previous experience managing and developing people. Strong ability to set strategic direction, determine priorities, and guide analytical work. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively. Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, working across departments to achieve shared goals. Maintains high standards of quality, with strong attention to detail and robust quality assurance practices. Skilled in translating data insights into strategic recommendations that drive revenue, operational efficiency, or fan experience improvements. Confident presenting complex insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling way. Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, with a proven ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments. Highly numerate, with the ability to interpret and work with complex datasets including demographic, behavioural, and transactional data Strong expertise in conducting in-depth data analysis and producing high-quality, insight-led outputs. Experienced in building impactful data visualisations that communicate insights and tell meaningful stories about Manchester United fans Solid understanding of the sports and entertainment industry, including teams, venues, fans, and broader industry trends. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience using Microsoft PowerBI Solid knowledge of digital and web analytics, with hands-on experience using Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, or similar platforms.
