I have been selected to build the Internal Audit, Risk and Controls (SOX) of a market leading technology business, who have previously co-sourced with a Big 4 provider on an exclusive basis. The current mandate we have is to recruit a Senior Internal Audit and Controls (SOX) Manager.
The role will be based in the Birmingham area (3 x per week, the rest working from home), reporting to the Director of Audit, Risk, and Controls, who in turn reports into the Audit Committee (AC) and Risk Committee (RC) and interacts daily with the Group CFO. The primary part of this role is to identify risks within the business and evaluate the adequacy of controls in place in order to minimise and mitigate those risks, whilst prioritising their importance.
In this line-management (of 3/4 Senior Internal Auditors), but still hands-on role, you'll be responsible for helping the Director establish department procedures and ways of working as we build the function from scratch. You will also be responsible for undertaking financial and operational reviews to identify risks and ensure that they are effectively managed.
This would be an ideal and exciting opportunity for a person looking to progress further into a Head/Director of Audit as this role will give you the chance to help develop the function into a commercial and pragmatic team that provides independent assurance and adds real value to the business. As part of this, you will also be involved in the production of Risk Committee (RC) and Audit Committee (AC) papers and interact with stakeholders of all levels.
We are looking for an audit/accountancy professional, who possesses excellent communication skills, especially in relationship and stakeholder management. You will likely be a well-educated, Big 4/Top 10 trained audit, advisory or finance professional, ideally with a relevant qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA, etc.), including some based in the UK. SOX / US GAAP experience is a strong advantage. You must have the right to work & live in the UK without sponsorship.
A progressive career trajectory to date would put you in a good position for this role and line- management experience is seen as a benefit, as is experience in the software, technology, hardware, etc. space. Travel is expected to very low (c. 5%, to major international cities, eg. New York, etc.).
