Leonardo UK's has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor to join the Corporate Internal Audit team. This is a chance to be part of a diverse team who is committed to delivering meaningful assurance and supporting business improvement. You will be part of a collaborative team and engage with a wide range of stakeholders. This is a hybrid role, with occasional travel across the sites. The Corporate Internal Audit team cover all UK locations, and you will be reporting to the VP Corporate Internal Audit.

As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will:

Lead and deliver end-to-end risk-based audits and consulting engagements independently, including scoping, fieldwork, reporting and follow up.*
Participate in annual risk assessments for developing the risk-based internal audit plan*
Connect with various levels of stakeholders across the business to discuss audit progress and results to promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.*
Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, governance frameworks and risk management processes.*
Test and assess effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and provide actionable recommendations.*
Be a team player and thrive in a fast paced environment.*
Encourage healthy debate and collaboration among the audit team and auditees.*
Stay up to date on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.*
Assist in mentoring and training less experienced team members.*
Participate in ad hoc projects and department initiatives, as needed.*
Support the development and enhancement of audit methodologies and tools.*
Support the VP Corporate Internal Audit in functional reporting and budget monitoring.*
Travel to locations as required for both internal audit and training/team purposes.*

What you'll bring



Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CISA)*
Proven experience in planning, scoping, and executing risk-based audits across compliance, financial and operational areas.*
Proven self-starter and proactive, clear communication.*
Experience in supervising, reviewing and providing on the job training of junior team members.*
Skilled in drafting audit reports that highlight key findings, root causes, and actionable recommendations.*
Experience managing multiple concurrent audits and delivering within tight deadlines.*
Experience in fraud risk assessment and investigative auditing techniques.*
Ability to engage with senior stakeholders, challenge constructively and influence outcomes.*
Ability to assess compliance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations across jurisdictions.*
Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., ACL, IDEA, Power BI, or SQL) to perform control testing and identify anomalies.*
Understanding of IT general controls (ITGCs) and ability to collaborate with IT auditors on integrated audits. (ideal)*
Experience in preparing management reporting (Board/Audit Committee)*

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
