Senior Internal Communications Officer

United Kingdom, United Kingdom

Job Description

"Shaw Trust promotes team spirit, inclusiveness and it is an organisation where everybody is somebody. I am proud to be part of this great organisation."
At Shaw Trust we believe everyone has the right to live a decent and dignified life and an opportunity for rewarding work. We are a social purpose organisation challenging inequality and breaking down barriers to enable social mobility.
For us being part of the solution is about creating the conditions for this to happen, advocating and delivering services that make a real difference. Working in partnership not competition, we are part of an eco-system of purpose-led organisations, striving for a fairer, more equal society centred on opportunity for all.
Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the evolution of internal comms in a leading employment charity with ambitious plans. With our charitable heart and business brain, you'll join us in our mission to support people across the UK to find good work.
We are looking for a flexible and talented communicator with great people skills to join our creative team and lead our internal communications. You'll support our mission to help as many people as possible to reach their full potential with regular communication that keeps our colleagues informed, and showcases the brilliant work taking place across the charity. You're a compelling storyteller who will help everyone understand the bigger picture - what do we do, why we do it, how we talk about it, and where people fit in.
Reporting to the Media & PR Manager, you'll use your excellent planning and project management skills to create an implementation plan to deliver our internal communications strategy, overseeing the development of our internal communications channels. This will include managing day-to-day internal communications to keep both remote and office-based colleagues informed and involved with our work. Your excellent people skills mean you can work well with teams across the organisation - including senior leaders and HR - to make sure our mission, vision and values are part of everything we do. You'll develop and deliver clear and compelling internal communications which engage, inform, inspire action, and tell the Shaw Trust story.
You'll use your strong communication and writing skills to empower others, providing advice and support to teams across the organisation on how to communicate well internally, helping them to confidently use our brand and share updates about their own work. And you'll help us develop a structured approach to internal communications that equips line managers with the information they need to cascade to their teams.
Finally, you'll champion our culture, promoting our values and celebrating our achievements.
Please find the job description below for more information. We ask that candidates demonstrate their ability to match the person specification by expanding on how their experience, training and/or qualifications might have provided them with the knowledge or skills required for the role.
