About the role
This role leads on the development of interpretation for the Library's temporary, touring and permanent exhibitions programme.
The role requires considerable experience of developing interpretation for temporary exhibitions in the cultural sector. The Senior Interpretation Manager leads the delivery of interpretation, text and AV content, working with internal project management, curatorial, loans and conservation teams as well as external design and AV contractors. In addition, the role involves managing other staff and contractors engaged in the development of interpretation.
In addition to the delivery of live exhibition projects, the role will also facilitate the rollout of the British Library's new exhibitions strategy, including supporting the development of new ideas for the exhibitions programme.
The selected candidate will combine excellent staff management and organisational skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines. They will have excellent written and oral communication skills.
The role requires some work outside of standard working hours, as well as occasional travel.
