IT Technician

at our Bury site (with oversight of offices in Preston and Oswestry).

As a Senior IT Technician at Dunsters Farm Ltd, you will serve as a pivotal figure in overseeing and driving the strategic administration and operation of IT systems across all company depots. Reporting directly to the IT Manager, you will closely collaborate to align IT initiatives with business objectives and ensure the seamless delivery of technology services. This role demands advanced expertise in supporting users with Windows-based systems and Microsoft 365, as well as proactively developing and safeguarding the infrastructure that underpins these essential services. Working in partnership with the IT Manager, you will ensure the business's IT environment remains robust, secure, and optimised for growth and innovation.

Core Responsibilities



Delivering expert-level technical support and troubleshooting for complex hardware, software, and network challenges throughout the organisation. Leading the management and optimisation of Windows-based systems and Microsoft 365 environments to guarantee high availability, security, and performance for all users. Overseeing the monitoring and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and backup systems, with a focus on scalability and resilience. Planning, installing, and upgrading computer hardware and software, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to business operations. Championing data security and regulatory compliance through advanced patch management, security audits, and ongoing user education initiatives. Establishing and refining documentation of IT processes, incidents, and resolutions to support efficient operations, knowledge sharing, and strategic planning. Collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to resolve high-level IT issues and to evaluate, recommend, and implement cutting-edge technology solutions. Managing remote access and mobile device strategies, enabling secure and flexible working arrangements across the business.

Required Skills and Experience



Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Intune for enterprise device management, security policies, and compliance monitoring. Extensive experience administering and optimising Microsoft 365 environments, including oversight of user accounts, licensing, and service integrations. Deep knowledge of Microsoft Entra for sophisticated identity and access management solutions. Strong familiarity with Microsoft Exchange, facilitating enterprise-level email and calendar service management. Expertise in managing onsite servers, covering advanced configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Comprehensive understanding of cloud technologies and platforms, with a proven track record in implementing scalable IT solutions. Proven competence in backup technologies, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity strategies. High-level awareness of cybersecurity principles, with hands-on experience applying best practices and conducting security assessments. Significant experience configuring and maintaining firewalls, ensuring robust protection of organisational assets. Advanced networking skills, including LAN/WAN design, implementation, and troubleshooting for large-scale environments. Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint for driving collaboration, document management, and intranet development across teams. Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, to articulate complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels. Outstanding problem-solving capabilities, enabling rapid and effective responses to critical technical incidents. Proven adaptability, facilitating seamless management of technological and organisational change. Leadership in teamwork and collaboration, fostering strong relationships within IT and across other departments to drive business objectives

Salary:

Benefits:

A wide range of benefits including 32 days holiday, life insurance, staff discounts and a health cash plan covering opticians, dentist, physio, and more. Full Time normal working hours are 37.5 hours between 8am- 5pm Monday to Friday. There may be occasional weekend on-call requirements as per of the role.
