Role description

Senior Java Developer

London - Hybrid

We're seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our engineering team in London, who work on mature, enterprise-level applications. You'll primarily develop large monolithic systems deployed via application servers and backed by relational databases. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on developer who enjoys writing clean, reliable code and taking full ownership of development and testing.

The Role:

Build and maintain backend systems using Java 8, 11, and 17. Develop within large monolithic architectures using application servers like Payara. Write and maintain strong unit and integration tests. Support performance testing initiatives (nice to have). Participate in deployments and containerized environments. Collaborate with teams using modern development tools with minimal onboarding time.

What you will bring:

Strong Java (8/11/17) development experience in enterprise environments. Experience with monolithic application architectures and relational databases. Familiarity with application servers (e.g., Payara or similar). Skilled in automated testing: Unit Testing (e.g., Mockito) Integration Testing (e.g., Selenium) Experience with CI/CD tools and modern development environments, including: Jenkins, Sonar, Docker, Git, IntelliJ, Jira Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.

Nice to Have:

Experience with Grails or similar frameworks. Knowledge of NoSQL databases like MongoDB. Familiarity with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ. Background in performance testing.
