This is an important role within the senior administration of the NHLI, A key focus is laboratory and health and safety management.
You will work closely with the Faculty Safety Advisors, Section Safety Coordinators and Laboratory Managers to ensure compliance with all College policies and procedures. The role also encompasses space management and planning, significant equipment purchases, management of refurbishment projects, and relocation of research groups.
What you would be doing

You will be expected to lead a team of 9 people across the Institute to ensure the smooth and safe operations of NHLI laboratories. As a result, the role includes significant relationship management, with all staff across the Institute as well as Faculty and College-wide departments. You will form a key part of the Institute's management team and advise them on all issues related to Health and Safety, laboratory management and space planning.
What we are looking for

You will be an experienced laboratory manager with a demonstrable knowledge of laboratory safety and laboratory equipment in a biomedical research setting.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with and influence a range of people at varied levels and be able to manage conflict.
We are looking for someone to run an effective and cohesive laboratory management team that can provide an excellent and integrated service to our researchers and students and ensure the Institute is meeting the highest health and safety standards.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) and an open-ended role based at Hammersmith Hospital Campus with regular travel to the Royal Brompton and White City Campuses. Due to the nature of the work, the role is predominantly based on-site; occasional home working may be possible.
