Exciting opportunity for a Senior LC-MS analyst



Alderley Lighthouse Labs has an exciting opportunity for an experienced LC-MS Analyst to join our new LC-MS suite at our state-of-the-art laboratory based in Cheadle Park. This is a permanent, full-time role working between the hours of 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday.

As a Senior LC-MS Analyst, you'll be experienced with your typical responsibilities across the entire analytical process - from sample extraction to data analysis and reporting of results to Toxicologist Scientist.

We are a high calibre scientific team that operate from purpose-built laboratory facilities which have high recognition in providing expert advice and analytical solutions to private clinics, hospitals, GPs NHS, pharmaceutical, and occupational health companies.

Alderley Laboratory Lighthouse labs state-of-the-art testing facility renowned for its work during the COVID-19 Pandemic the laboratory infrastructure was set up to process over 100,000 tests a day, completing over 20 million tests during that time. With exemplary performance throughout the pandemic, the laboratory was praised and recognised for helping save lives and protect the NHS.

The laboratory has now firmly re-positioned itself as one of the foremost private pathology laboratories in the United Kingdom and gain UKAS accreditation No 2135.

The laboratory comprises a small team of scientists and support staff and is equipped with the latest range of instrumentation, which enables us to push the boundaries of detection and measure extremely low levels of analytes in biological matrices.

About You:



Your role will be based in the Toxicology division as a Senior LC-MS Analyst. As a key member of the analytical team, you will be critical to helping us conduct investigations and formulate effective solutions to help our clients comply with quality standards.
By joining us you will collaborate with our clients, to design a tailored analytical programme to meet their complex regulatory needs. Leveraging our state-of-the-art instrumentation. You will be influential in providing analytical support to develop new methods and optimising existing analysis to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory limits.

Your Responsibilities:



You will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing robust methods for the identification and quantification of small molecules, primarily using LC-MS/MS technologies.

In response to the evolving demands of the industry, you will collaborate with senior colleagues to design and optimise methods for novel, emerging compounds and watch list chemicals, aligning with commercial and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include:

Developing procedures to perform LC-MS analysis on a wide range of samples/matrices.

Operating triple quadrupole LC-MS instrumentation, alongside sample preparation and automation equipment, as required.

Coordinating with sample reception, and extraction teams to ensure timely and accurate sample preparation in line with business needs.

Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of LC-MS/MS instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.

Processing and interpreting analytical data for the generation of validation reports in compliance with ISO 17025 / LAB 51 standards

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:



Experience working within an accredited ISO 17025/ LAB 51 analytical testing laboratory, ideally within the toxicological or clinical sector.

Proven experience with single and triple quadrupole LC-MS systems utilising both ESI and APCI ionisation techniques.

Familiarity with MassLynx software is advantageous but not essential.

Skilled in a range of sample preparation techniques e.g. liquid:liquid extraction, solid phase extraction, etc.

Proficient in routine maintenance and troubleshooting of LC based instrumentation.

Demonstrated adaptability in analytical methodologies with the ability to manage high throughput and diverse analysis in a fast-paced environment

Strong time management, meticulous attention to detail and resilience under pressure.
