Role Profile

The Senior Lead Murex Developer role is working as a core member of the SwapClear Murex development team, working on and helping lead the implementation of releases of new functionality and enhancements for the SwapClear platform. Potentially including a future Murex binary upgrade project.

The successful candidate should have a SME level technical understanding of Murex Integration and Trade Processing, and a firm understanding of financial products used in the capital markets, preferably in Interest Rate Derivatives (swaps). Hands on experience with Java, SQL and Linux is essential for the successful candidate.

A strong desire to learn in a rapid work environment is essential, along with excellent communication and team skills. Further training and knowledge transfers will be provided on the Murex platform modules utilised by SwapClear, and the SwapClear bespoke areas of implementation.

The work is technical and hands on, with implementing technologies of Murex MxMLExchange / MSL, Datamart / FO / MDRS / MRA / MRB / MLC / MxML, XML / XSL, SQL, Java and Groovy. Additionally, automated testing of changes made on the platform are implemented via our Java based SIT tooling stack, with programmatic tests written against Murex in Java using Junit 5. The successful candidate must have a strong desire to both write code and be involved in the technical details of each solution.

Further technical areas include use of Git for version control and modern DevOps practices, along with use of Jira for issue tracking.

SwapClear is the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading Interest Rate Derivatives clearing platform, Murex is positioned at the heart of the platform, clearing the majority of the worlds clearable swap trades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the SwapClear Murex Development Lead, lead the design and implementation of new and enhanced functionality on the SwapClear platform.
  • Potential projects include both a potential upcoming Murex binary upgrade and on-going IBOR conversion related projects.
  • Take ownership of the analysis, design, build/config, testing and delivery of Murex solutions for delivery of both enhancements and new functionality on the SwapClear platform.
  • Take responsibility for identification, estimation and reporting on progress of tasks, along with liaising across the business analyst, developer and continuous integration teams.
Key Skills, Experience and Behaviours
  • 10+ years professional experience in software development, out of which 8-10+ years in Murex development, particularly Murex Trade Processing and Integration.
  • Strong understanding of Murex MxML Exchange and Murex integration aspects.
  • Good working knowledge of Murex Datamart, Market Data, Murex FO configuration.
  • Reasonable experience (3-5y+) in Java, and basic shell scripting.
  • JUnit 5 or TestNG experience beneficial, but not crucial.
  • The ability to write performant SQL, exposure to Oracle DB, Sybase or PostgreSQL beneficial.
  • Good understanding of XML, fair understanding of XSL.
  • Understanding of MxML is required, understanding of FpML beneficial.
  • Ability to operate within a cross functional team, working closely with a wide range of people from different teams.
  • Experience in Agile software development and DevOps practices is beneficial.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills, both formal and informal. Ability to articulate well, listen to and process constructive feedback before adapting and refining the solutions and designs in response.
  • Understanding of capital market products, esp. IRD (swaps).
  • Good working knowledge of source control with git.
