Job Description

UWE Bristol is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Lecturer to lead our new MA Design Communication programme and contribute to our renowned Graphic Design and Illustration undergraduate courses. You'll join a vibrant Design Communication cluster of nearly 600 students and 20 staff, helping shape its next phase of growth and innovation.
About the role
As Programme Leader, you will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery, development and organisation of the MA Design Communication programme.
  • Contribute to high-quality teaching across postgraduate and undergraduate design communication disciplines.
  • Provide visible academic leadership, enhancing student experience, recruitment, retention and achievement.
  • Collaborate with academic, technical and administrative colleagues to strengthen the programme's identity and future direction.
  • Help shape the School's new curriculum.
About you
We're looking for a design communication specialist with:
  • Experience in teaching and programme/module leadership.
  • Strong professional practice, research, or scholarly activity.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with students, colleagues and industry partners.
  • A contemporary, conceptually grounded outlook on design communication (e.g., type, image, narrative, sustainable practices, design futures, emerging technologies, publishing, 2D/3D making).
  • A passion for defining bold, diverse learning journeys within an interdisciplinary arts environment.

This post is based at our in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects.
