About the role:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior In-House Commercial and Regulatory Lawyer to join our legal team at AerFin. This position requires a solid background in contract law, with a focus on providing legal advice and support to internal stakeholders across various commercial transactions. You will also bring experience in regulatory compliance, including both advisory and project work--such as implementing compliance programs to address new regulations and working with business stakeholders to ensure smooth integration.

Responsibilities:
Lead and advise on compliance projects, ensuring adherence to regulations (including export controls, KYC, anti-bribery, and emerging anti-fraud laws) and embedding best practices across the business. Developing associated policies, procedures and training programs in respect of these programs for AerFin.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including contracts associated with the sale and purchase of aircraft, engines and components, leasing, teardown and MRO services.
Support creation of legal precedents with the business and deliver internal training on their use.
Partner with internal teams to assess and mitigate legal and business risks.
Be the subject matter expert on specific new laws and regulations relevant to AerFIn.
Manage external legal counsel where needed around the world and ensure consistently cost-effective delivery of legal services.
Be a trusted advisor to Trading, Sales, and Operations teams across AerFin's UK and overseas offices, offering practical, timely legal guidance aligned with business goals.
Qualifications:
Qualified Solicitor with 5-10 years' PQE in commercial and regulatory law, ideally with in-house experience.
Strong understanding of international regulatory frameworks, compliance programs, and corporate best practices.
Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex agreements, with experience in international transactions.
Self-starter who can manage and prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills and sound judgment, capable of delivering pragmatic, strategic legal advice.
Effective communicator and team player, able to collaborate across functions and global offices.
Willing to act as the primary legal contact for the Newport office, coordinating with a Gatwick-based team.
Aviation sector experience is advantageous but not required.
