The Senior Linear Inspector plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the Linear Inspections Programme. Working closely with the Inspections Lead and a team of Inspectors, the post holder ensures inspections are properly permitted, coordinated, and executed to the required standards. This role is essential for maintaining the quality and timeliness of inspection activities across the network and meeting CPS contractual needs.
What you'll be doing
Programme Coordination
Liaise with the Logistics manager to book road space and traffic management
to facilitate inspections when needed.
Ensure all necessary briefings and provisions are in place prior to inspection
activities.
Monitor and update the inspection programme to reflect progress and
changes.
Attention to detail, ensuring the inspection defect reporting meet quality, and
regulatory standards.
Assist the Drainage Inspections manager with planning the CCTV inspections.
Assist with management of the deliverables from all Linear inspections
including monitoring the progress of uploads from Drainage CCTV surveys to
the GDMS.
Act as Activity Manager for any drone requests on the network ensuring any
drone activity is approved by National Highways and is compliant to the
required standard.
Keep accurate logs and records from all Linear inspections.
Team Leadership
Line manage Inspectors, providing guidance and support.
Conduct regular refresher training to the in-house inspections team.
Deliver constructive feedback to improve inspection quality and adherence to
standards.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Operational Delivery
Assist in creating and managing orders for suppliers involved in Linear
inspection delivery.
Track supplier progress and ensure timely execution of inspection tasks.
Conduct on-site inspections when required, ensuring compliance with current
standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with internal teams across Asset and Project Delivery and Service
Delivery.
Maintain effective working relationships with external partners and
stakeholders.
Assist with configuring new systems used for collecting Inspections data.
Report monthly Inspections KPI's.

Who we're looking for
A minimum of three years in highway inspection, construction or a related civil engineering field.
Driving licence
Proficiency with Linear inspection tools and IT.
Digital skills in Impulse Geophysics Roadshow, Field Maps, Survey123, ArcGIS, QGIS
Experience in inspection programmes or infrastructure delivery.
Ability to manage and motivate teams.
Knowledge of traffic management and road space permitting.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Familiarity with inspection standards and quality assurance processes.
