Job Title: Senior Logistics Coordinator



Reporting to: Logistics Compliance Manager



Nature of the Position: Permanent Full-Time



Location: Portlethen, Aberdeenshire



Role Overview:



The Senior Logistics Coordinator is responsible and accountable for overseeing and managing the day-to-day logistics operations, ensuring the efficient flow of goods to suppliers and customers in accordance with Company policies and procedures and in line with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) regulations. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving and organisational skills to optimise supply chain processes. The job holder works closely with suppliers, customers, transport companies, stores personnel and internal departments to ensure timely deliveries, cost-effectiveness and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:



Accountable for daily logistics operations to ensure complete shipping and transportation (Air, Sea and Road) of all equipment to customers and suppliers locally, nationally and worldwide for all Hunting UK divisions in a timely and efficient manner Liaising with customers and/or their agents on delivery requirements Addressing and resolving any issues related to delayed shipments or damaged goods Following established company processes for all HM Revenue and Customs requirements, enquires and visits ensuring that all import/export activities comply with company policy as well as with local, country and international law Ensuring all relevant shipping documentation is present and correct and accompanies the equipment to be dispatched Obtaining competitive quotes for freight costs and actioning accordingly Building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, transport companies and other logistics partners, ensuring optimal performance Reviewing and approving freight forwarder invoices Accountable for monitoring and managing the performance of logistics suppliers ensuring they follow the Standard Operation Procedures agreed between Supplier and Hunting Responsible for managing imports, ensuring all goods are imported correctly using appropriate HMRC authorisation where applicable (IP / OP / TA), reviewing and correcting use of Tariff codes where necessary, ensuring correct use of CPC Codes and incoterms Facilitating the definition and implementation of the organisations Incoterms Ensuring correct and full completion of relevant Bill of Discharge documents or notifications to HMRC for all HMRC authorisations (IP / OP / TA) Reconciling MSS report, DAN reports against import register for PVA & DAN purposes Managing the maintenance of records on all despatches, imports and exports, via the Export/Import and Delivery registers Ownership of monthly MSS Generating and applying for relevant Certificates of Origin, EUR 1, Arab Certificate of Origin Confirming and assigning commodity codes to products (with assistance from Sales / Technical teams) Confirming and assigning origin of goods to ERP & CIPL (with assistance from Supply Chain teams and suppliers where required) Active involvement and identification of continuous improvement with Hunting's logistics processes and systems. Writing standard operating procedures and work instructions for logistics operations. Accountable and responsible along with the Logistics Compliance Manager to ensure all logistics functions and customs duties and VAT payments are implemented and performed in accordance with all the company's relevant policies, procedures and practices to meet requirements supporting short and long-term business needs Assisting in managing logistics budgets, tracking costs, and working on cost-saving initiatives Using data and key performance metrics to track operational performance, prepare reports and present findings to the Logistics Compliance Manager Collaborating with internal departments such as sales, rentals, supply chain and stores to ensure alignment on logistics needs and performance.

Qualifications/Skills and Experience:



Essential:



Significant demonstrable experience in logistics coordination or a similar role Knowledge and experience of the Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment High degree of knowledge and experience of import and export procedures, including relevant certificates Strong working knowledge of current HM Customs & Excise regulations and standards Relevant shipping experience, with knowledge and understanding of shipping Dangerous Goods Multi-modal, domestic/international/local transportation experience Financial and numeric literacy within a business environment Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:



Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or similar relevant qualification(s) ADR & IMO Qualified Knowledge and experience of business ERP system, ideally Microsoft D365
