The role
Based at our
Headington campus
and reporting to the Head of Finance and Planning (Directorates), the Senior Management Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Senior Management Teams of the Directorates in all aspects of financial strategic planning, financial management, financial reporting and business support.
We are recruiting for one permanent, full time post, and one fixed term one year, full time post. A fractional post of 0.8fte or above will be considered for both posts.
About the team
The Financial Planning & Analysis department plays a central role in driving the University's financial sustainability and supporting decision-making across all Faculties, Directorates, and strategic partnerships. We are responsible for delivering high-quality management information, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and insightful analysis to senior leaders, enabling them to make informed, data-driven decisions.
What will I be doing?
Co-ordinating strategic and financial planning
Delivering robust management reporting
Supporting budget holders and maintaining financial controls
Overseeing month-end and year-end reporting
Advising and influencing at a senior level
Championing customer service principles.
What skills do I need?
Significant experience in management accounting, ideally supporting budget holders at a senior level
Proven expertise in budget management, planning, forecasting, and risk identification
Track record of producing accurate, timely monthly management accounts and maintaining robust financial controls
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Effective interpersonal and business partnering skills, including influencing and negotiation.
About the location
Based at our Headington campus , you'll enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and a modern office environment. The campus is just one mile from the centre of Oxford, with regular public transport links. Limited staff parking is also available on site (permit required). This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with an expectation of two days on campus per week.
