About The Role
Are you a technically strong newly qualified Accountant who enjoys being close to the numbers? Do you like owning month-end, understanding why the numbers look the way they do, and improving how finance works as a business grows? Are you looking for a role that blends core financial accounting with exposure to acquisitions, integration and change -- without losing touch with the detail?
We're looking for a Senior Management Accountant to join APEM's Group Finance team at an exciting point in our growth. This is a pivotal role supporting accurate reporting, insight and control across a fast-paced, acquisitive consultancy business operating internationally.
The role sits at the heart of the finance function. You'll lead core accounting activities for parts of the Group including month-end close, management accounts, consolidation & financial accounts while also playing a key role in integrating new acquisitions into the Group. As the business continues to expand, you'll be involved in shaping and improving finance processes, supporting system changes, and ensuring reporting remains robust, timely and decision ready.
Alongside this, you'll work with commercial colleagues to support budgeting, forecasting and planning activity. You will help teams understand performance, plan new workstreams and ensure new opportunities are financially sound. This is a role for someone who enjoys technical, cyclical finance work, but who is also curious, commercially aware and keen to take on new projects as the business evolves.
This role is offered on a hybrid basis so you will need the ability to commute to the Stockport / Manchester area approximately one day per week
You'll need to bring:

• Strong technical accounting experience, ideally obtained from a large accountancy practice
• A recognised accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience
• Experience of financial and management accounting and statutory reporting
• Excellent Excel and general IT skills
• The ability to analyse financial information and explain it clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• A proactive mindset and appetite to improve processes
• Exposure to acquisitions and/or integration activity

It would be great if you also have:

• Experience in a PE-backed or acquisitive business
• Exposure to international operations or tax considerations
