We are a long-established manufacturing and service business based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, embarking on a significant change period having grown significantly over the past few years.
We are looking for a Management Accountant who is ready to roll up their sleeves and work closely with the Head of Finance to bring scale, control, structure, and positive improvements to a business undergoing significant transformation.
This is not a "business-as-usual" role; it's an opportunity for someone who wants to be fully hands-on, learn every aspect of the finance function, and play a key part in building the new way of working. You will gain exposure across the entire business, working with the Head of Finance and CEO, while proving your ability to deliver and add real value.
The role will include:
Producing the monthly management accounts end-to-end (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow).
Cash management as a critical responsibility, ensuring liquidity, forecasting, and managing multiple suppliers to protect and improve working capital.
Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and reporting cycles.
Managing and overseeing payroll and pensions processes.
Driving improvements in processes and controls across the finance function.
Partnering with the FD to deliver change projects and embed new ways of working
The Candidate:
A fully qualified (or finalist) accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong management accounts experience.
Sage 200 experience - this is essential (non-negotiable).
Hands-on and detail-driven, but able to step back and see the bigger picture.
Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a high-demand, pressurised environment while fixes and new processes are embedded.
Strong communication skills - confident dealing with stakeholders at all levels, including suppliers, colleagues, and senior leadership.
A proactive mindset with a desire to make improvements, not just maintain the status quo.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to be more than "just an accountant" - you'll be a key player in working directly with the Head of Finance to drive change, build a robust finance function, and set new standards for the business.
What we offer:
Benefits including competitive pension, 25 days holiday (plus stat), on-site gym, perk box, life insurance
Opportunity to work directly with the Head of Finance and CEO during a period of exciting change.
Exposure to the entire business, contributing to strategic and operational transformation.
Supportive environment that values initiative, ownership, and professional growth.
