About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an inspirational leader to join us on a permanent basis. You will be based in our head office in Leigh Woods, Abbots Leigh with ample free parking and a mixture of home and office working available.
As part of our senior management team you will:
support the implementation of our new business strategy
be able to develop strong relationships, both internally and externally with our
stakeholders, to understand and maximise current business and develop new business opportunities.
provide line management and support to our service managers.
lead on quality improvements and innovation throughout the organisation
There are a number of exciting projects in the pipeline where you would have the opportunity to take the lead and improve outcomes for the people we support.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the care sector, be able to thrive in challenging environments, and hold a management qualification (or willing to undertake the training). Knowledge of current care regulations and legislation is a requirement for this position.

About Us
Freeways is a charity which has been in operation since 1987 and employs approximately 300 staff. We run a number of residential (care) homes, supported living flats and community support across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset supporting adults with learning disabilities. Our Head office in Abbotts Leigh is co-located with a day centre and hydrotherapy pool. The aim of our services is to support people to become as independent as possible by helping them make choices, learn new skills and make links with their local community.

Job Purpose
As part of the senior management team, to contribute significantly to the operational leadership of Freeways, working closely with the Chief Executive to deliver agreed strategies relating to the business plan to include:

Strategic Management
To work strategically with the Chief Executive to set the overall direction of the Charity and to provide effective leadership in delivering strategic and operational plans, including the development, tracking and reporting of KPIs against plans.
To oversee the management of a set of services in a region ensuring that compliance is maintained, quality is monitored and services evolve in line with best practice evidence and the needs of the Charity.
As part of the senior management team to oversee an area of the business plan across all operational sites and communicate our successes to a wider audience.
Operational Management
Ensure up to date records of departmental information are maintained.
To maintain and develop strong working relationships with key providers, partners, families / carers and other stakeholders, identifying and implementing opportunities to work in partnership to improve service delivery .
To ensure we have robust processes for contract management and all changes (and their financial impact) are well managed and person centred.
To develop and implement a system to enabe Freeways to track, monitor and report KPIs and broader management information.
Responsible for preparation of regular reporting packs for the CE, Finance Director and Trustees, representing the ongoing operational position as and when required.
Leadership and Delivery
To provide high quality advice and support as required to the CE, FD, HR Manager, Trustees, and staff on matters relating to operational issues.
To be responsible for the preparation of all appropriate operational reports for the SMT and board of Trustees.
To be knowledgeable in the latest legislation relating to learning disabilities, care, support and housing.
To develop and oversee operational risk management and business continuity processes to ensure the Charity is well run, efficient and complies with relevant legal requirements and current best practice.
Staff Management and Development
To line manage, motivate and develop the service managers within a given region, empowering them to improve their teams and services.
To liaise with Human Resources to establish an ongoing training program in line with company policies to develop staff to appropriate standards when required.
Communicate effectively with the senior management team on a regular basis ensuring information is clear, accurate and timely; encouraging team participation in the way information is relayed to other services.
Develop the resourcing requirements for the operational function in line with the strategy making recommendations for and leading change where required.
Develop and manage policies relevant to care, support and housing.
Additional Responsibilities
To represent and act as an effective ambassador for the Charity externally when required to do so by the CE.
As a member of the senior management team build a positive organisational culture and provide clear, positive and motivational leadership across the organisation in line with its values
To attend meetings of the Board of Trustees as required and any other relevant forums supported by Freeways to provide effective high level strategic and operational support advice and information.
To undertake other such duties as considered appropriate by the CE within the overall scope and objectives of the role and organisation; including the delivery of key projects and deputising for other senior managers as required.
Be aware of, adhere to and implement any legislative requirements consistent with the overall duties of this post, including Health and Safety and Data Protection, in line with all corporate governance and Freeways policies.
Contribute towards other aspects of Freeways work as required, commensurate with the scale and general nature of the post.
