The Global Strategy, Operations & Performance (GSOP) team serves as a Center of Excellence within Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) business unit, focusing on enterprise-level strategy, performance management, and operational delivery. We're a fast-moving, high-impact team tackling the company's most important priorities.


The Risk & Remediation program management office (PMO) is specifically focused on driving GMNS process excellence, Legal Entity Governance, 1LOD Compliance, Data Governance and managing large risk-related initiatives for GMNS.


The objective of the GMNS PMO team is to ensure the successful delivery of a Project called Guardian, to uplift the Operational Risk and Control Management strategy, within GMNS through strong program management and deep enterprise partnerships.


You will be joining a newly created team called the GMNS Guardian International PMO team that will be working on a high priority and visibility program that touches many teams within GMNS International and across American Express. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for providing program management support across deliverables and ensuring we seamlessly advance the business unit to an elevated risk management model.

How will you make an impact in this role?




The role involves critical coordination across GMNS workstreams, business unit leaders, and extensive collaboration with partners in second-line, third-line, and supporting areas to ensure we continue maintaining the highest levels of control and compliance standards.


We are seeking a results-oriented individual with a background in leading complex transformation initiatives - someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment and has a passion for senior level engagement. The role has a high visibility opportunity with engagement with leaders across GMNS.


Additional responsibilities include:

Oversee and drive the E2E GMNS cross-functional workplan enabling the delivery and oversight of key deliverables Partner with CLM leadership, Control Management, Legal Entity Governance, Network & Acquiring Solutions and 2LOD Serve as the program management function, acting as a conduit between GMNS sponsors/leads, and the workstreams delivering on the Guardian plan Ensure clear communication of progress up to management; reporting on milestone progress, raise key decisions and issues for resolution where required. Champion change management activities including supporting the communication strategy and approach Drive organizational alignment and develop linkages and dependencies with teams in and outside of GMNS Support Guardian PMO forums for GMNS and interface with organization-wide committees (e.g., Operational Risk Management Committee), and share insights (e.g., Community of Practice) Develop and use protocols for capturing all key artifacts including approvals and evidence of task completion to support appropriate milestone completion, in line with Enterprise PMO guidance

Minimum Qualifications



The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who is able to deliver strategic thought leadership and lead project workstreams Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly complex environment with a proven ability to quickly adjust to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity and rapid change Excellent project/program management and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships Strong interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships with key business partners. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to influence without authority. Ability to maintain a positive, can-do attitude 5+ years of experience working as a project or program manager and able to work autonomously Working hours flexibility given the international nature of the role London based, Hybrid
