The Scientific Engagement (Senior) Manager is responsible for the detailed planning and flawless execution of assigned global medical and scientific congresses across portfolios. Reporting into the Global Congress Lead (Medical Excellence, Global Medical Affairs) the role converts high-level congress strategy into executable project plans, coordinates cross-functional teams, manages vendors and budgets, and tracks performance metrics--ensuring every congress presence elevates the visibility of BioNTech's scientific portfolio while complying with all internal and external requirements.




Key Responsibilities




Congress coordination: Translate the congress strategy into annual operational plans and timelines for 5-8 global congresses. Develop congress charters, objectives, success metrics and risk-mitigation plans; update the Congress Lead on progress and escalate issues when needed. Organize meetings of Core and Extended (where needed) Congress Committees for each globally-led congress to ensure that prioritized congresses are executed in a coordinated and timely manner. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including but not limited to Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Patient Engagement & Advocacy, and Corporate Communications, to organize congress-related activities. Congress Content Coordination: Coordinate briefing, routing and approval of scientific content (posters, abstracts, symposia decks, booth materials) within MLR systems. Vendor & Budget Management: Liaise with Events team to ensure that appropriate RFPs are issued, proposals evaluated, SOWs negotiated and contracts managed for congress sponsorship, booth builders, digital?platform providers, freight/logistics and onsite agencies. Logistics and Operations: Coordinate the overall logistical planning and execution of assigned congresses. Performance Metrics and Insights: Use established KPIs to track the success of congress participation. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Support all congress activities to comply with global and regional regulatory standards, internal policies, and industry guidelines. Support Congress audit/inspection readiness activities as needed. Ad hoc project support: support initiatives as needed for to drive Medical Excellence projects and activities.



What you have to offer




Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, or a related field is required. Experience: >5 years of experience in a congress planning, medical communications, or medical/scientific affairs role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Stakeholder Management: Strong experience working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver medical affairs tactics.




Preferred Requirements:


Global experience in congress management with a basic understanding of regulatory requirements. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple congresses and projects simultaneously. Previous experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.




Minimum Skills and Competencies:


Project Management: Strong organizational skills with a focus on delivering congresses on time and within budget. Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex scientific information into clear and compelling congress materials. Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify issues during congress planning and execution and develop solutions that ensure successful outcomes.
