Overview:
We have a number of exciting on-going projects with clients across both commercial & naval marine domains and are seeking to expand our existing Marine Design / Naval Architecture capability.
As a Marine Design Engineer every day at Expleo will be out of the ordinary and will require you to be dynamic and responsive to changes in technology, innovation, and client requirements. You will have the opportunity to get involved in concept vessel design, complex engineering design, creation of new & innovative tools & processes, delivery of engineering consultancy services, and the development of decarbonisation solutions & other emerging technologies across a wide range of global maritime programmes.
Responsibilities:
Apply & continue to develop a breadth of engineering skills, in the discipline of Naval Architecture and where applicable, other related disciplines.
Integrated 3D models and 2D drawings for various marine systems, performing detailed checks and implement necessary modifications to ensure design accuracy and alignment.
Manage the release process for models and drawings, maintaining version control within PLM systems.
Develop routing schemes for mechanical and fluid systems, ensuring optimal layout within the vessel constraints.
Conduct comprehensive engineering checks to validate system integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Produce detailed integration drawings and part-level manufacturing drawings to support system assembly and production processes.
Source and specify standard mechanical components, such as pipe fittings, ensuring compatibility and availability for procurement and production needs.
Investigate technical issues identified by regulatory bodies, developing practical engineering solutions to meet compliance standards.
Deliver high quality solutions to our customers and clients.
Investigate & solve complex technical problems in concept, basic and detailed design phases.
Develop & maintain written technical and administrative procedures, standards, processes, practices, guidelines, and standards.
Assist with the maintenance & improvement in quality standards of engineering, design, and production information.
Interface directly with our customers and clients, representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.
Qualifications:
Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).
Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or an ability to achieve within 12 months).

Desired skills:
Marine design
An understanding of classification society rules, regulations, and standards in the design, construction, and in-service lifecycle phases.
3D modelling of components in 3DX (Dassault software).
2D drafting of production drawings in 3DX
Experience:
The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 4 years post-graduate experience (8 years for non-degree qualified) working in either the commercial or naval maritime domain.
Marine design
Ship design
Experience of using Naval Architecture design (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MaxSurf, NAPA, Aveva, Paramarine, Orcaflex, MatLab, MS Excel).
Experience of working in multi-company and engineering discipline teams with an ability to communicate effectively.
Experience in a technical consulting environment, leading and/or supporting multiple engineering projects & customers.
