As a Senior Materials Planner at Celli Thirsk, you will lead the materials planning function, ensuring the seamless flow of components and consumables to support production. You will work closely with procurement, engineering, production, logistics, and suppliers, ensuring optimal inventory levels while driving continuous improvement, cost-efficiency, and production reliability.
Responsibilities
Expedite and reschedule open orders to suit production planning requirements
Challenge purchasing agreements to optimise orders (transport schedules, minimum orders, firm windows)
Responsible for sourcing suppliers - material for new projects (support project and R&D team )
Responsibility for stock value within Celli UK
Review historical data - purchasing and sales trends to provide greater decision making.
Responsible for Supplier Relationship Management
Monitor supplier performance into Celli UK
Provide input in developing departmental strategies for inventory on existing items, new product introduction and phase outs.
Understanding of supply chain integration touch points from supplier through manufacturing.
Interact with MPS planners to understand forecast drivers.
Analyse and manage risk in the supply chain
Ensure all inbound transport is correctly utilised.
Contribute to productivity savings for the plant through improved mrp control.
Work with production to establish effective Kanban levels of raw material on production cells.
Work with Warehouse supervisors on quantities/levels of stock holding.
Attend daily logistics meetings to aid with prioritisation and coordination of duties
Experience
Experience
: 3-5+ years in materials planning or supply chain roles (ideally in FMCG/manufacturing). Experience in supervisory or lead planner capacity preferred
Communication & Collaboration
: Effective liaising with suppliers and colleagues across functions, ability to influence and negotiate.
Systems Knowledge
: Proficient with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced Excel skills
Supply Chain Savy
: Strong understanding of BOMs, lead times, MOQs, inventory optimisation, lean methodologies, and NPI support
Analytical Edge
: Excellent numerical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and comfort handling multiple priorities
