We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team and play a leading role in designing, prototyping, and delivering the next generation of robotic systems.
Role Overview
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of the mechanical design lifecycle -- from concept development to detailed design, prototyping, testing, and deployment. You will work closely with robotics, control, and computer vision engineers to ensure that designs are robust, scalable, and optimised for industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of robotic assemblies, end-effectors, and supporting structures.
Produce detailed CAD models and technical drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
Conduct FEA and tolerance analysis to ensure reliability, safety, and performance.
Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to source components and manage design-for-manufacture (DFM).
Oversee prototyping, assembly, and integration of mechanical systems.
Drive continuous improvements in reliability, cost-effectiveness, and maintainability.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation for CE marking and compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards.
Mentor junior engineers and support cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Document designs and contribute to IP protection strategies.
Requirements
Degree (BEng/MEng or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
Minimum 5+ years' experience in mechanical design, ideally within robotics, automation, or industrial machinery.
Strong skills in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent).
Proven experience with prototyping, testing, and validating mechanical systems.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, plastics, additive manufacturing).
Experience in FEA, motion systems, and structural design.
Familiarity with CE marking processes and technical documentation requirements.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Desirable
Experience designing robotic grippers, conveyors, or automation systems.
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and integration with control systems.
Exposure to sustainability-focused product design.
What We Offer
Opportunity to work on world-first robotics technology with global environmental impact.
Collaborative, mission-driven team environment.
Competitive salary and potential equity participation.
Career growth in a rapidly scaling international startup.
