As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ideas from sketch to validated prototypes for sensing-led products tackling emissions in tough, real-world environments. Scope of the Role

Working closely with electronics, software, and science teams, you will own concept-to-prototype development, de-risking mechanisms, and housings through fast iteration. Your role as Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be varied, and the scope includes the following:

Generate early concepts and lead practical ideation for mechanical solutions. Build prototypes, run tests, document outcomes, and iterate quickly. Create accurate 3D CAD and concise 2D drawings for fabrication. Plan and execute trials, reporting issues, and implementing changes. Collaborate across hardware, software, and science to resolve system problems.

Key Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role, you'll need:

Proven experience in new product development as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or Product Design Engineer. SolidWorks or Onshape fluency, plus precise 2D drawings and tolerance stacks. DFM knowledge: 3D printing, CNC machining, vacuum casting, and supplier engagement. Hands-on prototyping with Arduino-based rigs, sensor selection, and iterative testing. Communicates complex engineering ideas clearly in ambiguous, startup settings.
