Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Manchester (Hybrid)
Open for Perm & Contract
Contract - up to 440 per day OUTSIDE IR35
Perm - up to 65K per annum
A UK-based engineering design consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support major water sector projects. The company has established itself as a trusted partner within regulated industries, delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions while maintaining a strong focus on safety, wellbeing, and technical excellence.
You will be responsible for producing design calculations and drawings, leading junior designers, overseeing subcontract M&E teams, and liaising with suppliers and manufacturers. The role also involves preparing design reports and specifications, ensuring compliance with professional standards, and presenting at design reviews and client meetings.
Required Experience

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in the water industry.
• Strong background in hydraulic design.
• Knowledge of electrical design and control systems.
• Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional registration, working towards chartership.

Preferred Experience

• Chartered Engineer status.
• Experience with wastewater and clean water projects.
• Awareness of construction methods and materials.
