The Simulator Company Ltd designs and builds advanced medical simulators, lifelike animatronics for global healthcare training. As we expand, we are hiring a Mechatronics & Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design, development, and production setup for our next generation of products.
The Role
This is a hands-on, fully on-site role where you will take ownership of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and full product development. You'll work across the full lifecycle: from early design concepts through to production-ready, fully assembled systems. You'll collaborate closely with electronics, embedded, and production teams to deliver complex electromechanical products.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design using CAD for electromechanical products.
Develop components for injection moulding, CNC machining, 3D printing, and small-batch processes.
Specify, purchase, and set up production equipment (CNC machines, 3D printers, jigs, fixtures, test rigs, etc).
Build and improve production workflows and assembly processes.
Create manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and build guides.
Work directly with suppliers, toolmakers, and external manufacturing partners.
Lead design reviews, tolerance studies, and quality control processes.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
7+ years of experience designing and manufacturing electromechanical products.
Experience with plastic housings, mechanisms, and complex assemblies.
Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment (CNC, 3D printing, shop-floor tooling).
Experience setting up or improving low-to-medium volume production processes.
Comfortable working directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
Nice to Have
Experience working to medical device standards such as ISO 13485 or IEC 60601.
Experience with robotics, motion control, or automation equipment.
Experience with process improvement or lean manufacturing methods.
