Job Summary

As a Senior Medical Writer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the communication of complex scientific ideas. You will engage in publications planning and execution, multi-channel medical education, and internal training initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Developing written materials that are of high quality, scientifically accurate, clear, fully referenced, appropriate to the target audience, meets the client\xe2\x80\x99s communication objectives and conform to client specifications; this includes interacting with key experts, negotiating on content and making constructive suggestions on content
  • Developing a broad range of materials including meeting materials (e.g. slides, agendas, discussion guides), post-meeting activities (e.g. webcasts, reports), as well as attending meetings, workshops and advisory boards. Other materials include newsletters, training materials and publications
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and key experts
  • Researching medical and scientific topics using relevant information sources
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge in relevant therapy areas including drug mechanisms of action, disease state, treatment guidelines and competitive landscape
  • Following standard operating procedures (SOPs), including updating of project files, following sign-off procedures and version-control conventions
  • Providing support to the accounts team and attending meetings as required, including internal kick-off meetings, status meetings and client calls
  • Identifying and anticipating any problems or resource limitations that could jeopardise the delivery of your projects on-time, on budget or with sufficient quality
  • Providing content support for new business opportunities, such as proposals and presentations
  • Nurturing client relationships and being aware of opportunities to develop and grow business
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in medical writing and scientific communications.
  • Familiarity with the healthcare environment and Medical Education industry.
  • Working knowledge of the publishing industry.
  • Track record of effectively interpreting and fulfilling client briefs.
  • Experience in critically appraising and citing published information.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project demands.
  • Proficiency in workload management.
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in creating documents using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with style guide compliance (e.g., OPEN Health Medical Communications, client, or external publisher).
  • Understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice (or relevant regulatory codes).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity in presenting technical information accurately.
  • Sound scientific and medical knowledge.
  • Ability to research and critically evaluate scientific literature.
  • Continuous learning and adaptation to new scientific, therapeutic, and regulatory information.
