Job Title: Senior NTI Development Engineer



Salary/Grade: 55,516+ Dependent Upon Experience



Location: Peterborough, UK

About IPSD




Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary



In this role you will be the lead engineer for engine-based NTI (New Technology Introduction) test work, delivering project work alongside a team of motivated engineers and support groups to investigate and develop future engine technologies. You will help solve challenging engineering problems involving products, systems, and components using technical knowledge and problem-solving techniques The results of your work will provide conclusions that help to define the technical direction for future engine products that meet regulatory emissions targets and customer requirements

What You Will Do



Collaborate with internal customers and the local team to execute projects that meet the needs of the business Accountable for delivering investigative test work with a team of engineers, executing work in a timely manner and providing clear recommendations to internal customers and stakeholders. Partner with internal customers to investigate new engine hardware and controls to develop recommendations for suitable engine technologies to meet the demands of future emissions regulations and customer requirements. Keep up-to-date on new technologies and drive continuous improvement to established techniques.

Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort. Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts. Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up-to-date on technical and procedural job components. Applies technical operating and project standards based on achieving excellence in delivered products, technologies and services. Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Provides input for local project plans to track project progress and status. Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project. Produces standard project status reports.
