Job overview




The clinical bed management service are seeking an experienced, dynamic, senior nurse to lead the clinical team responsible for placement and flow of patients throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.



The ideal candidate will be clinically qualified and have extensive experience of working within Acute mental health with prior experience of managing patient flow.


Main duties of the job




Provide effective leadership and management to staff which promotes the Trust's values and high performance standards both individually and as a team, in the achievement of the Trust's objectives and priorities.



The poster holder will be expected to have extensive experience with bed management and patient flow and will be able to evidence a clear understanding of access / discharge standards and associated pathways.



Understand the Trust's key priorities and those of your Department and how these translate within your area/team.



Ensure clarity and effectiveness in developing and designing roles and services.



Ensure management of staff is consistent with Trust's Values to the achievement of equality, equity and optimum performance.



Complete annual Appraisals for all staff which reflect these priorities and ensure staff have access to appropriate training and development.



Communicate regularly through meetings with teams and individuals and provide opportunity for two-way feedback. Promote an effective team ethos.



Promote equality, diversity and rights, and treat others with dignity and respect ensuring services are developed, managed and delivered to meet the specific needs of those belonging to protected characteristics

Qualifications




Essential criteria




Professional qualification in health or social care. Master's level qualification in management or leadership or equivalent relevant experience

Desirable criteria




Experience of managing mental health services #

Knowledge




Essential criteria




Good working knowledge of wider health and social care system and structures and legislations relevant to service areas. Knowledge of management tools, organisational systems and processes relevant to managing in an NHS organisation Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and national drivers underpinning services for people with mental health problems #

Skills




Essential criteria




Ability to develop oneself and others in leadership and service management. Ability to appraise, interpret and apply suggestions, recommendations and directives for improving. service areas
