Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Level 3 Senior Nursery Nurse to lead the 3 months- 2 year old room.

Purpose of Job:



It is the Senior Nursery Nurses duty to support a team of Nursery staff in running a room for children of a particular age in accordance with the requirements of the EYFS. The Senior Nursery Nurse is part of the Middle Management Team and is expected to help and assist Management.

They must have a holistic view of the Nursery and maintain a happy and safe environment. The Senior Nursery Nurse must remain loyal to the Company and report any problems or concerns to the Deputy or Nursery Management.

The Senior Nursery Nurse must work in a professional manner and always display a positive attitude, integrity, and calm assurance.

The Senior and Second in charge must be aware of all the duties listed below and ensure the smooth running of the room. The Second will assist the Senior at all times and oversee the room when the Senior Nursery Nurse is absent.

Duties



Parents/Carers



Plan and oversee visits and the settling in of new children. Welcome new Parent/Carers into Nursery. Introduce Parent/Carers to Nursery procedures and systems Make sure Parent/Carers are aware of My Schools App, social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook) and Information Booklets. Explain Tapestry and the EYFS. Help parents to access this. During a Nursery pre-visit book time to carry out an Initial Assessment of the child with the Parent/Carers. Oversee staff assessments and monitoring. Organise additional settling in visits should a child require them. Observe new starters and assign a suitable Key Worker. Be aware of individual Parent/Carer needs Establish and maintain good relationships with Parents/Carers Always be available for support and advice. Involve parents with learning goals/ next steps Provide parent/Carer with information daily about activities, learning, eating and enjoyment. Provide information on activities done in Nursery which can be extended at home. Report any causes of concern directly to the Safeguarding lead/ Management Plan termly parents' evenings following the parent consultation form Oversee the staff team, their communication with Parents/Carers and assessment feedback.

Children's Wellbeing



Develop links with all the children and their Parent/Carers, always making them feel welcome. Use skills of observation to assess the children within the EYFS. Monitor their individual stages of development and set suitable next steps within their learning. Senior Nursery Officers must oversee all children's development as well as having their own Key children. Oversee the provision board daily and link with outdoor activities. Be aware of any cause for concern involving children, Parent/ Carers or staff. Report these to the Safeguarding lead/Manager immediately. Report any concerns to the Deputy or Management and assist with monitoring. Always maintain health and safety standards. Provide a caring, stimulating learning environment indoors and outside, with provision for individual learning and development needs for each individual child. Reduce any barriers to learning, creating an inclusive environment. Adhere to all policies and procedures, completing our in-house training programme to Gold level. Ensure the Nursery always meets Ofsted requirements

Staff



Work as a team leader to develop a good, strong and loyal team. Be involved in staff training and identifying training needs within your room. Monitor apprentices and work with the Manager/ Mentor. Be available for support and advise. Provide leadership with planning and displays

Organise outings and charity events. Help staff maintain high standards and good moral. Manage time in the room for all staff to complete relevant paperwork/Tapestry. Complete spot checks e.g. planning/ Profiles/ Tracker sheets

Resolve any staffing issues appropriately and involve Managers where necessary. Cover in case of absence. To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident forms, room checks. Observe staff in the room/ set suitable targets, use performance management. Make sure staff are following routines, policies, and procedures.

Managerial



Be familiar with all relevant documentation procedures. Check that all children have up to date and appropriate documentatione. g Pin number, Tapestry Profile, Tracker sheets, Index cards, Coat peg, Medical forms etc. Attend regular Seniors meeting, Parent/Carer evenings and all Nursery events. Organise and hold Room meetings. Liaise with Management. Oversee the running of the room, new starters, staff, policies, and procedures. Complete daily room checks. Complete daily Outdoor checks Maintain Performance management

Other duties



As required by Management in connection with the smooth running of the Nursery.
