Senior Occupational Therapist

Ipswich, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people's and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and want to reflect the diversity of our local communities within our teams. We welcome applications from all talented individuals with the relevant qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team providing therapy services to our 16-bed Low Secure Service for men, based in Ipswich.

NSFT Secure Mental Health Services have been consistently rated "Good" by the CQC and we are looking for an enthusiastic, Recovery-focussed and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join the Foxhall House team and the service on our journey to "Outstanding".

Main duties of the job

In this role, the post-holder will be responsible for the provision of the Occupational Therapy Service at Foxhall House.

You will be part of a Therapy team that bases its approach on the Model of Human Occupation. The aim is to maintain, restore or create a match between the abilities of the person, the demands of their activities and occupations, and the demands of the environment in order to improve function, promote independence and enhance opportunities for meaningful participation in daily life, whilst working alongside with the multidisciplinary Team

Within this role you will lead a motivated, skilled ward therapy team working alongside an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner, a Fitness Therapy Technical Instructor and a Teacher. This is a stand-alone unit, so the right candidate will be able to work autonomously and provide leadership on the ward when needed.

You will work under the umbrella of the well-established NSFT Secure Services Occupational and Fitness Therapy Team, which is embedded across not only Foxhall House, but also the four forensic inpatient wards in Norwich.

Working for our organisation

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.

Why work for us?

We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey. We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.

Why Norfolk and Suffolk?

The people here are warm and welcoming, you'll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park. We're an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres. We have excellent shopping, eating out, top ranking schooling and affordable house prices too.
