About the role


Balfour Beatty is currently recruiting a Senior OHL CAD Technician to join the Power T&D team based in Derby.

We are open to both full time and part time candidates (including job share), and offer a flexible working policy.

Role Purpose -

Liaise with the Technicians Team Leader/ Principal tr">CAD Technician to complete allocated projects in accordance


with programme, quality requirements and cost.
What you'll be doing


Key Accountabilities:


Scoping and delivering projects to an agreed time scale.

Key Responsibilities:


Control of and reporting on all work allocated by the Technicians Team Leader/Principal Technician,
including the control of the programme and the day-to-day management of the Team members.


Organise, supervise and monitor the progress of allocated projects Ensure that all members of the drawing project team are aware of what is required of them and that the information provided to them is correct and up to date Direct participation in the work associated with enquiries and contracts and responsibilities for the maintenance of technical excellence Arrange preparation of drawings and documents for a project within defined area of responsibility. Prepare contract start up information if so directed or supplement the existing material if inadequate Liaise with the designer and/or technician to obtain the most suitable interpretation of design requirements Arrange the checking of all drawings, material lists, calculations and other documents with area of responsibility to ensure that standards are maintained. Ensure that all drawings and documents have signatures present as specified in the procedure A drawing office specification and that a record is kept of any changes since the commencement of work Participate in development of all software packages, and introduction of new facilities and their use by other members of the CAD Team Understand, maintain and apply Divisional QA policy and procedures in line with the requirements of ISO9001:2000 and ensure that corrective and preventive action in respect of products, services and the quality system are effective Participate in the review and improvement of engineering drawing team process maps and documents.

Who we're looking for


Skills Required:



Significant working experience in either overhead line work (profiles, wire clearance diagrams) / checking drawings, project managing contracts.


Knowledge or working understanding of the following design activities / software packages:




Must be proficient in MicroStation latest versions Wire Clearance Diagrams Insulator Set Drawings (components to BS 3288) Composite Route Mapping using GIS 3D modelling of components Phasing Diagrams Construction stage by stages Scaffold clearance checks


Desirable:




Preparation of material schedules. Experience in substation/power generation. Experience using Navisworks software. AutoCad latest versions Foundations/Bar Bending Schedules - Revit Diagonal Setting Level Diagrams Stringing Information and Material Summary Profiling using PLSCADD Profiling tower lines using Optimal TowerCAD Profiling pole lines using Optimal PoleCAD Tower Line Schedules Pole Line Schedules
