Purpose of the role:





The cinch supersite in Corby has a production facility producing 50,000 units per year, a despatch inspection facility producing 70,000 pre delivery despatch inspections per year, and the largest cinch store for customers to purchase and collect their new vehicles.



We are seeking a highly experienced senior manager to take over a new operational role in the cinch super site in Corby. The role is responsible for the yard management of the production site, the management the vehicle despatch inspections process (this function is the sole despatch process for cinch and handles Corby and Grimsby produced despatches) with a dedicated Despatch team following the cinch despatch standard.


Within the responsibility of the role is local administrative and operational control of the Vehicle Handover Specialists (VHS) whilst on the site and not tasked for customer deliveries. Plus oversight of the customer vehicle handover team located in the Corby Store adjacent to the site.



This role is also responsible for site daily management and requires a broad experience of production management of used vehicles and all supporting logistics activities.


The role is also a central function in aligning all support to the production operation and the role holder must be an excellent communicator, with a good operational pedigree, and a calm demeanour able to work under considerable pressure with conflicting priorities.


Key Responsibilities




Manage the centralised despatch team (c.30 people on each of 2 shifts) and inspection process in line with weekly logistics demands, and look to optimise the process, timeline and movement of vehicles through this department/function. The KPI for this operation is all sales to be Despatch checked within 48 hours of sale. Create and manage one yard management team through the Yard Planning Team Leader (c.60 people across 2 shifts) to control the movement and flow of vehicles through the Corby Geddington Road Sites A&D (c10,000 spaces) in the most efficient manner daily and optimise the process and headcount to meet the capacity required. With the yard Planning manager align and plan the site and despatch capacities to meet business direction Manage site capacity and supervise regular stock checks in line business direction. Act as operational lead for new yard management system implementation within first 6 months in role Manage the despatch checked pool of vehicles (the Good to Go (G2G) function) to maintain the quality of vehicles in this holding area from where plated delivery and truck delivered vehicles are selected from. Manage the volume and quality of valets in support of the Despatch and G2G operation. Act as the daily site lead for all H&S, and operational issues in Corby. Create management dashboards to demonstrate productivity of all functions managed on site. Work closely with both the store management and production management in Corby to support their production and sales targets weekly. Ensure all Geddington Road functions within the Operations Manager remit can operate sustainably on a 7 day a week shift pattern. People Management.Manage and develop your people effectively. Management of subcontractors, suppliers and maintenance teams on site to ensure safety and productivity remains. In conjunction with the VHS Ops team retask VHS drivers to support despatch, yard and store operations during peak periods.

Knowledge and Experience:




7+ years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role focused on vehicle preparation, despatch and yard functions. Strong yard management skills and 3+ yards experience running a complex production yard. Strong knowledge of logistics software and technology solutions for despatch, yard and reporting Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly related to vehicle and parts logistics. Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills Strong organisational skills and attention to detail * Ideally, experience of rolling out new system software and the implementation of the process, operation and resource around the new capability.
