We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Operations Officer to join our department and manage the day-to-day delivery of essential campus services - from planned and reactive maintenance to security, cleaning, portering and post-room operations.
We are offering this role at Birkbeck on a permanent, full-time contract at 35 hours a week, on a salary of 34,827 rising up to 38,981 per year. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead operational planning and delivery in a role where no two days are the same.
As a Senior Operations Officer, you'll be at the heart of our operations:
Oversee the helpdesk and job management systems to ensure efficient service delivery.
Plan and allocate resources across various functions like maintenance, security, and cleaning.
Support IT systems and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Act as the first point of contact for queries, ensuring customer satisfaction, and guide the team on enquiries.
Manage supplier engagement and ensure cost-effective operations.
To excel as a Senior Operations Officer, you should have:
Experience in coordinating team activities and setting objectives.
Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
A flexible and proactive approach with a commitment to service excellence.
Good knowledge of administration, budgeting, and procurement.

Salary and benefits:
34,827 rising up to 38,981 per year, Grade 5 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
