Senior Operations Technician \xe2\x80\x93 Conjugates

As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Operations Technician to join our Conjugates department in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work a 7-Day-Fortnight shift pattern.

About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed

QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.

Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.

Your new role:

As a Senior Operations Technician at QuidelOrtho, you will provide support to the Conjugate Concentrates team, with the primary responsibility to carry out the routine conjugation and purification of a large range of Conjugate Concentrate products.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Be Doing:

• Use of BTR and/or EBR to carry out formulations of Conjugate Concentrates. Includes use of balance, pipettes, stirred cell concentrators, centrifuge, UV spectrophotometer and filtration equipment.
• Use of SAP system for raw material and planning requirements.
• Operate the AKTA systems including manual fraction collection where needed.
• Update and maintain spreadsheets and control charts for trend analysis for each Conjugate Concentrate.
• Ensures that all activities are carried out in compliance with all regulations and laws governing business and quality operations (QRS/GMP, ISO, etc.) identifying and recording anomalous observations. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, national, international and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
• Maintain the lab environment, including ensuring calibration and maintenance of equipment is up to date, cleaning, and micro monitoring.
• Adherence to the manufacturing plan, including the pooling of Conjugate Concentrates.
• Prepare conjugate concentrate in process warning limit breach (RZ and percentage yield) paperwork. Formulate Test Dilutions for In-Process tests, interpret results and make recommendations for appropriate action. Liaise with other departments for example: Reagent Formulations, Technical Support, Quality Engineering as required.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need to Succeed:

• 2 - 5 years relevant operational experience in QuidelOrtho or similar industry.
• 5 x GCSE levels including relevant science (Chemistry preferred) and Math\xe2\x80\x99s OR 2-5 years relevant operational experience.
• Experience of laboratory work.
• Science background preferred.
• Demonstrable experience of using pipettes and weighing balance (formulating basic solutions).
• Experience of Unicorn Software.
• Experience of AKTA purification systems.
• Experience of Enterprise Resource Planning system SAP
• Ability to work a shift pattern (7-day fortnight \xe2\x80\x93 7 x shifts across 14 days, 11-hour shifts, including weekdays and weekends).
• Ability to deal with complex processes and systems.
