Key Responsibilities

Lead by Example: Set the standard for safety, quality, and productivity on the shop floor. Operate Machinery: Run and oversee machines used in cutting, shaping, and processing glass, ensuring optimal performance. Glass Handling & Assembly: Safely load/unload glass and assist in assembling high-specification IGUs and other products. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks and support root cause analysis for any defects or process issues. Mentorship: Support the onboarding and training of new operatives, sharing best practices and promoting a positive team culture. Problem Solving: Identify and escalate production issues, contributing to solutions that improve efficiency and reduce waste. Health & Safety: Champion safe working practices and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
Essential Criteria

A minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production environment -- ideally within glass, glazing, or construction materials -- with a strong understanding of quality and safety standards. Solid knowledge of production processes, with a sharp eye for quality control and a commitment to continuous improvement. Confident in operating machinery and safely handling materials in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Skilled in using measuring tools and equipment, with the ability to measure accurately to specification and interpret technical instructions or production drawings. A proactive, can-do attitude, with a strong work ethic and a focus on getting things right the first time. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and standing for extended periods.
Desirable (Non-Essential) Criteria

IT literacy, including the ability to use production software or digital tracking systems confidently. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S methodology, with a mindset for continuous improvement and process efficiency. Previous experience in the glass industry or IGU manufacturing. Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) licence - preferred, especially if you have experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse setting. A general FLT licence for other truck types (e.g. reach, pivot steer) is also beneficial. Full UK driving licence. First Aid certification

Location:?Clayton Glass, Blackworth Industrial Estate, Highworth, Swindon, SN6 7NA Working Hours / Shift Pattern:?37.5 hours per week, rotating weekly shifts: Week 1: 06:00 am - 14:00 pm Week 2: 14:00 pm - 22:00 pm Hourly Rate:?14.00 (inclusive of shift allowance) Standard Weekly Pay:?525 (based on 37.5 hours, paid weekly)
