Are you an experienced Paint Technician with a passion for high-end automotive finishes and team leadership? We're seeking a

Senior Paint Technician

to join our Paint Shop team and take a leading role in the preparation and finishing of both metallic and composite components. In this key position, you'll ensure top-quality results, support the development of team members, and act as a delegate for the Principal Paint Technician when required.



The Role




As a Senior Paint Technician, you'll bring expert-level skill and coordination to our paint processes, ensuring delivery against strict quality, cost, and timing targets. You'll guide and support other technicians, lead process documentation and quality assurance efforts, and assist in the planning and budgeting of projects. This role combines hands-on work with leadership and organisational responsibility, making it ideal for someone ready to take the next step in their technical career.



Key Responsibilities



Perform high-quality preparation, painting, and finishing on metallic and composite substrates. Lead and guide other Paint Technicians in delivering project objectives. Act as delegate for the Principal Paint Technician when required, including team coordination and sign-off authority. Operate and maintain paint shop equipment to expert standards. Monitor and support material stock and advise on replenishment needs. Contribute to budgeting and cost control processes. Help define, promote, and review departmental procedures, work instructions, and risk assessments. Support departmental health and safety compliance and seek continuous improvement. Collaborate in planning and estimating future projects and workloads. Provide detailed status and capacity updates to management. Ensure accurate documentation and lead process development where assigned. Manage prioritised work requests and balance team schedules accordingly. Maintain a clean, organised, and well-presented working environment.


What You'll Need



Qualifications & Experience:



Recognised training in automotive painting, panel preparation, or similar (e.g., City & Guilds). Substantial hands-on experience in high-performance or luxury vehicle paint operations. Strong understanding of refinishing techniques, colour matching, and surface quality standards. Experience with both metallic and composite substrates is essential. Familiarity with panel fitting, gapping, and defect rectification processes. Confident working with both waterborne and solvent-based paint systems. Previous experience guiding or coordinating team members is desirable.

Strong sense of accountability and pride in quality workmanship. Willingness to take direction and also support junior team members. Comfortable using digital systems for stock management and work tracking (Microsoft Office proficiency is a plus).
