The role:


This person will maintain oversight of, and provide support and consultancy on the Partner Finance proposition. This includes the Business Sale and Purchase Scheme, Business Succession Planning, complex Management Buy Ins/Outs, Mergers, De Mergers and the full range of Partner financing arrangements to Partners, Advisers and FMT as a whole. They will communicate relevant policies and procedures for the BSP scheme where lending and structuring guidance is key, and assess the viability of Partners current and future finance needs whilst working in tandem with other Specialists within the Partner Finance Division.


What you'll be doing:

Lead the communication of Partner Finance policies and procedures, Succession Planning & BSP procedures and awareness of structuring guidance to Partners and FMT within the Medium High Net Worth/Large Business Unit. Take responsibility to collaborate with Executive Managers within the Medium High Net worth/Large Business Unit to facilitate and deliver their requirements accounting for Partner Finance Policies, procedures and credit policy. Work with Medium High Net Worth/Large Business Unit to identify and support Partners with Partner Finance related emerging or existing financing requirements, undertaking initial advice and consultancy to establish their financing needs (current and future), advising on policies and procedures, reviewing and preparing financials and supporting where appropriate through the lending application on any business sale or purchase. Bring in specialists from the other parts of the Partner Finance Division, Legal, Tax, Accountancy, Partnership Accounts as required, as well as other Internal and External Stakeholders as required. Support buyers and sellers throughout larger more complex transactions where appropriate and support Partners throughout the life of their borrowings and facilitate/Project Manage where applicable. Maintain close relationships with the Partner Finance Case Management, lending, Corporate Finance and Operations team, provide input into policies and procedures, attending credit committee where appropriate and acting as 'triage' to ensure the majority of loans coming to new lending are likely to be approved. Work with Partner Finance and the Field to ensure appropriate management of Out-of-Policy lending. Act as a sounding board and Business Consultant for Partners on all aspects of business development, Restructuring and BSP and related activities such as highlighting client marketing opportunities, client audits, segmentation processes and client servicing strategies, working in tandem with Business Partners. Acting as a Consultant to identify new transactions within the Partnership and help Partners develop their business strategy to ensure they maximise the benefits of any future business sale or purchase. Work jointly and collaboratively with aligned specialists within the business that will complete the implementation stage of Restructures and BSP and who will provide provision of Finance and BSP related technical advice and consultancy. Work with the Medium High Net Worth/Large Business Unit FMT to ensure the match is the most appropriate fit for buyer and seller and clients. From time to time (and working closely with the Partner Finance team) lead and be responsible for specific Area Partner Finance related initiatives or events that would benefit from having central co-ordination. Explain and promote the Partner Finance service and proposition, setting and managing expectations and co-ordinating and providing any related Partner Finance training alongside or in consultation with the Field based subject matter experts. Work with the Partner Finance Middle Office to support the development of the Partner Finance proposition and delivery of the Partner Finance strategy.

Who we're looking for:


The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Corporate Finance and is likely to have an Accountancy or Legal Qualification. They will understand FCA Regulatory Authorisations requirements and the role of an SJP Partner Practice Business. A professional FS qualification is desirable. They will be able to manage direct reports and create an environment where individuals and teams perform. They will hone Partner Finance consultancy skills to enable them to effectively influence Partners and become an expert on the Partner Finance service. They will lead the resolution of complex Partner disputes/issues utilising proven consultancy skills. They will be an excellent communicator and a high-quality presenter with gravitas and positive impact.


Essential Criteria


Professional knowledge/experience of Corporate Finance. Accountancy, Legal or professional FS qualification preferred. In depth understanding of how a Partner business operates. Take personal responsibility for learning the required technical knowledge to deliver in the role. Inspirational leader/manager. Delivers consistently under pressure - able to resolve complex Partner disputes/issues. Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, confident presenter.

Special Requirements:

Risk Management



There is a requirement to manage risk within Partner Finance. These are defined as actions detailed within the Partner Finance Credit risk forum where Consultancy intervention is required to work with a Partner and/or FMT as directed.


There is a requirement to work in the locations allocated and therefore ability to travel Is a pre-requisite of the role. The candidate must demonstrate that they are agile and receptive to change.
