Role Responsibilities

Partnership and Tax



Prepare partnership and corporate tax computations for all entities. Reconcile partners' current accounts, tax reserves, and capital accounts, promptly identifying and addressing discrepancies. Manage partner loans, including arranging new partner loans with the bank, overseeing existing capital loan adjustments, processing capital repayments, and servicing loan interest. Prepare annual partner statements and reconcile partner balances with the accounts system. Maintain partner tax reserves and accounts, including budgeting for estimated tax retentions and reconciling with Aderant (year-end top-ups). Manage HMRC payments and liaise with the firm's tax accountants and external advisers. Investigate discrepancies and coordinate with external tax advisers as needed. Administer the monthly partner drawings process, ensuring distributions are made on time and accurately recorded in the accounting system. Support implementation of the partner lock-up retentions policy. Handle partner queries regarding drawings and partnership obligations. Assist with partner benefit queries and coordinate with HR on benefit coverage for new and existing partners. Ensure accurate processing of partners' chargebacks. Contribute to income and expenditure budgeting and forecasting. Provide partners with mortgage references, and supply balances and payment schedules for partner retirement letters. Reconcile retired partner balances and process repayments as outlined in retirement agreements. Provide technical payroll input (PAYE, NIC, BIK, etc.) to HR and payroll. Offer expertise for capital allowances projects.

Statutory and Management Accounts



Assist with timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow. Help prepare year-end statutory accounts and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and technical updates. Take responsibility for group dormant company accounts and filings. Support financial record-keeping, including general ledger management and financial statements. Analyse monthly results and highlight variances. Perform monthly and annual closing activities. Help prepare audit schedules, ensuring timely and complete submissions.

Treasury



Assist with daily and monthly cash flow reporting.

Other Areas



Aid in timely VAT returns and other regulatory filings, including ONS submissions. Participate in the implementation of new group procedures. Undertake ad hoc duties as needed.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

Accountancy qualification with significant experience in partnership accounting or tax. Prior experience in legal finance or professional services is essential. A proactive, flexible, and visible presence within the business. Familiarity with Aderant is advantageous but not required. Strong Excel skills, with ability to collate and present management data (e.g., pivot tables, data extraction). Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to prioritise, meet tight month-end deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs. Demonstrated initiative and independence. Strong communication skills, positive work ethic, and capacity to build credible relationships both internally and externally. High standards of professionalism, inspiring confidence among both clients and colleagues.
