This is an exciting opportunity to join a team to develop and deliver a Physical Intervention Training programme within the Acute setting, as well as supporting staff build packages of care for our service users who display challenging behaviour.
The successful applicant must be a GSA Accredited Grade A or equivalent qualification and experience of working in clinical settings to ensure the highest possible standards that are service user focused.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ' Priority ' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
To act as one of a team of Physical Interventions Trainers within UHPNT.
The role will be expected to develop and deliver a range of training courses, both theory and practical which meet both organisational and external client requirements for safeguarding of service users and staff within those organisations.
The trainer will support the development and delivery of training packages to a wide range of internal and external staff groups, from both adult and paediatric nursing/care/theatre environments.

1. Assist Physical Interventions Training Lead in the design and delivery of conflict-de- escalation, breakaway and physical interventions training to an appropriate level consistent with DoH recommendations, statutory requirements, Trust standards, and external client requirements.
2. Deliver a range of Physical Interventions trainings and conflict resolution courses, bespoke where appropriate to staff needs/external client requirements, as set out by the Physical Interventions Training lead.
3. To provide expert advice to clinical staff across all specialties with regard to conflict de- escalation and physical interventions.
4. Will be the specialist lead for Conflict De-escalation, Breakaway /Self Protection ligature, Lone Working and searching of persons and property training.
5. To line manage band 5 Physical Interventions trainer if post developed.
6. Ensure that all Physical Interventions training is delivered in a safe and effective manner in accordance with Trust training needs, policies , national guidance, and trainer training provider requirements/standards, and that training venues are risk assessed, and that the risk assessments are up to date, prior to commencement of training.
7. Assessment of candidates to ensure where applicable they meet the required standard.
8. Interface with both internal and external candidates acting as an ambassador for Physical Interventions Training Team and the Trust, upholding Trust Values.
9. When appropriate meet both internal and external clients with or without the Physical interventions Training Lead, to design/bespoke course material, methods of delivery.
10. Liaise with the Physical Interventions Training Lead on all aspects of offering guidance, advice and support to Trust employees on training needs in line with Trust Policies and DoH recommendations. To also offer guidance, advice and support to external clients in line with their requirements.
