To provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex Physiotherapy problems as an autonomous practitioner within clinical speciality area.
To undertake line management responsibility for staff, within the service area to provide a responsive and effective service.
To actively support the Team Leader in the operational management of the area and service developments on a local and/or service-wide level.
To provide clinical education and training.
To have responsibility for specific projects or initiatives contributing to the overall delivery of the service within a clinical speciality area.
To provide health education, health promotion and prevention advice.
To provide specialist physiotherapy assessments over a range of conditions and complexities using advanced clinical reasoning to analyse clinical and non-clinical findings to form accurate physiotherapy diagnoses and prognoses.
To formulate and recommend to others the best course of physiotherapy intervention and/or treatment programmes to meet the agreed goals set with the individual patient/or carer, using evidence based practice and a wide range of treatment skills and options.
To evaluate patient progress, review goal setting and alter treatment programmes as required.
To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication methods to communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential.
To overcome barriers to appropriate rehabilitation, including communication difficulties, anxiety or motivation.
To ensure that patient's privacy and dignity are respected at all times
