Type:

About the Company

We are a leading construction company delivering high-quality infrastructure and building projects across multiple sectors. As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint a proactive and organised Project Planner to join our Planning Team. This role focuses on the delivery stage of projects, working closely with site teams to ensure programmes are realistic, maintained, and reflective of actual progress on the ground.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Planner with deep expertise in first principles planning to join our project controls team. This role requires a strategic thinker who can build robust programmes from the ground up--accurately estimating durations, sequencing work, and defining critical paths without relying solely on historical data. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting complex infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects, ensuring all elements of time planning are clearly defined, logical, and achievable.

Key Responsibilities

First Principles Planning

Develop detailed project schedules using first principles--calculating durations based on resource loading, productivity rates, quantities, and constraints. Engage with engineers, designers, and construction teams to validate assumptions and inputs. Provide realistic forecasts based on historic knowledge adjusted to project requirements. Ability to interpret engineering drawings to develop initial sequencing / phasing for programmes, independently.

Programme Development

Build and maintain fully logic-linked programmes in Primavera P6. Clearly define construction sequences, interfaces, and handover milestones. Create WBS structures that reflect deliverables, work areas, and subcontractor scopes.

Phasing & Sequencing

Prepare phasing diagrams and zone-based programmes for multi-stage projects with the ability to present to key stakeholders should it be required. Identify and mitigate sequencing clashes or logistical constraints early in the planning process. Understand site requirements to ensure safe and efficient working. Work with temporary works and logistics teams to ensure alignment of methodology and access strategy.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

Establish performance baselines and monitor progress against key milestones. Provide forensic analysis of delays, disruptions, and resequencing impacts. Deliver clear, concise reports and dashboard visuals to senior leadership and clients.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Support tender and bid teams with method statements and high-quality schedules. Lead planning workshops and walkthroughs with multidisciplinary teams. Liaise with client planners and ensure compliance with contractual time-related requirements.

Ad-Hoc

Support the planning team with various types of delay analysis to help understand project impacts and assist in resolving time-related issues. Delegate tasks to ensure efficient output and make best use of time.
