Our Planning team plays a critical role in shaping and coordinating the delivery of high-impact projects, from early feasibility through to as-built handover. As a Senior Planner, you'll be central to the success of our projects - driving efficiency, safety, and technical excellence.

Scope of Role




This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced planner with telecoms or utilities experience, looking to deepen their understanding of full project lifecycle management. You'll provide planning and design support for street works and construction projects, ensuring all works are well-scoped, legally compliant, and ready for delivery. You'll also support operational teams with work packs, permitting, surveys, and stakeholder liaison.

How You'll Succeed




Plan and design telecoms routes and customer connections from feasibility to as-built stage

Produce and manage paving schedules, route plans, cable pack designs, and Straight Line Diagrams

Compile job packs, private wayleave documentation, and method statements

Identify Special Engineering Difficulties (SEDs) and liaise with asset owners to agree working methods

Create and maintain MS Project programmes; monitor and report on project progress

Compile weekly/monthly reports for JSM Directors and clients

Manage GPS and as-built data collection for project close-out

Support BT Openreach PIA route design and engage with relevant digital tools and portals

Ensure health, safety, and environmental procedures are followed across all planning activities

Build relationships with Highways Authorities, clients, utilities, and internal delivery teams

What it takes




Minimum 3-5 years' experience in telecoms, fibre, or utilities planning

Solid knowledge of telecoms route planning, street works, and civils coordination

Experience with BT Openreach PIA processes and web portal (desirable)

SSSTS certification and ability to write RAMS (preferred)

Skilled in MS Project, Excel, Word and GIS/GPS tools

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Strong written and verbal communication - confident dealing with clients and authorities

Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment

Desirable




Background in fibre network builds, diversionary works, or multi-duct infrastructure

Knowledge of SED management, private wayleaves, and CDM requirements

Experience with risk assessment and method statement compilation
