The power of planning meets the future of energy.
We've just secured an exciting opportunity on a nationally significant infrastructure project--and we're looking for a
Senior Planner
to join our commercial team at Walker Sime.
This is a key role on a major electricity transmission scheme designed to improve network capacity, reliability, and sustainability across the East of England. Spanning several counties, the project includes the construction of new overhead lines, the removal of existing infrastructure, and the development of new substations and underground cables--all as part of a long-term upgrade to the UK's national energy infrastructure.
You'll be embedded in the commercial team, ensuring the project is delivered on time, on budget, and with full alignment between the programme and commercial strategy. This is a newly created position--if successful, it could pave the way for similar roles across several other high-profile energy projects.
The Role
Lead project planning and scheduling as part of the commercial function
Build and maintain detailed programmes using
Primavera P6
Conduct programme delay analysis and assess
Compensation Events (CEs)
Integrate all programme elements in line with
NEC contract
mechanisms (Clause 31 & 32, EWNs, PMIs)
Analyse completion and sectional completion dates, including implications for
delay damages
Provide cost and resource loading within
P6
to support commercial reporting
Collaborate closely with commercial leads to ensure the programme supports cost control and forecasting
Help shape a new approach to integrated planning across major energy projects
About You
Advanced proficiency in
Primavera P6
and programme delay analysis
Strong knowledge of
NEC contracts
, particularly Clauses 31 and 32
Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of how programme impacts cost and risk
Experience in the energy sector, ideally with overhead lines, substations, or cables
A proactive, solution-focused mindset with the confidence to shape new ways of working
Why This Role?
This is a rare opportunity to step into a strategic, high-impact role within a growing infrastructure team. You'll play a key part in a nationally important project that's shaping the UK's energy future--while also influencing how planning and commercial integration is delivered across Walker Sime.
